Reflections on the Prison Writers Workshop by Jordan D.

Since the fall of 2023, the Prison Writers Workshop has impacted me in an innumerable amount of ways. Tiffany, our facilitator, has helped my confidence grow. This is not to say that I was shy or insecure prior to enrolling in this class (or my incarceration), but being under the influence of drugs and alcohol often played a hand in my bravado.

It’s no secret that going to class every Friday and being given the opportunity to be transparent and vulnerable behind the guise of our pen is a form of emancipation that knows no rival. Moreover, it is Tiffany’s constant kind, insightful, and empowering critiques that keep you coming back for more.

There is an old cliché that goes, “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.” The Prison Writers Workshop is a breeding ground for dreamers and innovators; for men and women who embrace growth. Thank you for this workshop.
